Purpose:
The Associate Design Manager will manage the Central Design Centre and will be responsible for establishing and maintaining consistent design standards across India.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains approved design standards based on SKM’s Standards with documented and approved changes.
- Establishes time and cost standards for design and construction.
- Prepares necessary documentation for standard engineering specifications.
- Establishes the Quality Management System and supporting templates for design, documentation, approvals, procurement and design information during construction including design methodologies, information to be provided at completion of each phase, value engineering, safety reviews and approvals.
- Establishes training procedures for Project and Construction Managers and Design professionals in the operation of the Design Management System including induction and system changes procedures.
- Establishes relationships with key suppliers and related communities to ensure a high standard in design and construction of this type of facility. This will include involvement in professional activities and keeping abreast of development in materials, practices and authority requirements.
- Establishes and maintains a strong relationship with the SKM’s clients and their national and global design staff to support the improvement in design standards.
- Organises and manages peer reviews, value management and working groups to find and develop cost savings on engineering arrangements, materials, equipment, products and supplies.
- Ensures that cost saving arrangements retained as part of the value Management effort are properly captured and implemented by suppliers, contractors and national teams.
- Audits design documentation for conformance to Standards and procedures, instigating changes as appropriate.
- Ensures SKM design activities achieve corporate objectives
- Develops staffing profile for design activities in conjunction with SKM “People” team.
- Manages design office business systems and costing modules.
- Directs and manages design Staff.

- Recognized degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural Engineering, architectural or comparable degree
- Extensive technical knowledge of architectural and engineering construction works
- Extensive experience in documentation production and coordination of engineering services
- Experience in detail resolution.
